The following is a list of the individual locations, maps, dates, and times.

The AIMS tests are standards-based tests that provide educators and the public with valuable information regarding the progress of Arizona's students toward mastering Arizona's reading, writing, mathematics and science standards.

In the sub-sections below, you will find information and resources pertaining to the AIMS tests. Another great resource for information is The Arizona Department of Education website located at: www.ade.az.gov/standards.

WHO NEEDS TO BE TESTED?

Every student needs to pass all three (3) AIMS tests to graduate.

• All students in the tenth grade are required to take the High School AIMS for the first time in the spring of their tenth grade year, based on the cohort year (year a student entered high school for the first time).
• Students in eleventh and twelfth grade who have not yet "Met the Standard" on a particular subtest must retake that test (offered fall and spring).
• Students in eleventh and twelfth grade who have already "Met the Standard" on a particular subtest have the option of retesting in order to improve their scores. These students can retest during the fall and spring administration of AIMS, if they sign-up to do so prior to the testing date. Students who have "Met the Standard" but did not sign-up to test are to be tested only if sufficient test materials are available.
• Students who have already "Exceeded the Standard" on any particular subtest may not retake the test.

If we do not have AIMS scores from your previous high school, you are required to be tested. We encourage students to call us to be sure that we have your AIMS results in our records.

Students enrolled at Primavera and who also attend another school will take the AIMS at the home school. If you have any questions regarding the AIMS tests, please call us at 480-456-6678.

For those students who would like additional assistance with English and Math for the AIMS tests, Primavera offers tutoring sessions on a regular basis.

Monday thru Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Students can take an AIMS practice test electronically and get it scored by going to http://moodle.dmit.asu.edu/. All three AIMS High School practice tests(reading, writing, and mathematics) are available to take.

The Arizona Department of Education also has a sample test that students can print and review by going to www.ade.state.az.us/standards/AIMS/SampleTests/HSSampleTestFinal.pdf. This document contains each of the AIMS High School practice tests (reading, writing, and mathematics), along with an answer key. It is a pdf document, and you will need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader to view and print it.

The Arizona Board of Regents, at the recommendation of Superintendent Horne, approved the following program for graduating students in Arizona.

Arizona students receiving High Honors endorsements will be recommended for college tuition scholarships. The following guidelines will be used by the Arizona Department of Education to determine which students will receive the High Honors endorsement.

In order to qualify for the tuition waiver, students must meet the following criteria:

Part 1:   Students must complete all 16 Core Competency Courses by graduation with a B or better in each course. (16 Core Competency Courses: 4 units English; 4 units Math; 3 units Lab Science; 2 units Social Science; 2 units Foreign Language; and 1 unit Fine Arts.)

AND

Part 2:   Students must meet at least one of the following academic requirements:

• Option 1 - GPA:   Cumulative GPA of 3.5 on an unweighted 4.0 scale
• Option 2 - Class Rank:   Student is in the top 5% of high school graduating class upon graduation.

AND

Part 3:   Students must meet at least one of the following assessment options:

• Option 1:  EXCEED Standards on all 3 of the AIMS Tests
• Option 2:  EXCEED Standards on 2 of the AIMS Tests and MEET Standards on 1 of the AIMS Tests. Additionally, they would either need to receive at least a score of 3 on two Advanced Placement tests or a score of at least 4 on two International Baccalaureate exams.
